At Healthspan Neurology, we bring 25 years of clinical experience to neurologist-led Alzheimer's and dementia prevention, women's brain health, and neurologic consultation — in person in Rochester, NY and via telemedicine throughout New York State.
“Dr. Gajaweera at Healthspan Neurology has changed my life. I now have a partner in my brain health journey. I came to her carrying a lot of fear and stress about my future brain health, and she has taught me that knowledge is power. She guided me through targeted testing and recommended meaningful adjustments to my daily routine. Together, we have lowered my stress level and built a concrete plan for how to proactively approach this chapter of my life. Dr. G. is a wonderful communicator with a gentle, kind soul. She left a large practice because her dream was to start a practice focused on preventing dementia — she has achieved that dream, and we are all luckier for it. Are you afraid of what’s around the corner? Talk to Dr. G. Take that first step — and you’ll never walk alone again.”
Preventive Neurology & Brain Health Services
-

Cognitive Longevity Program
Alzheimer's disease begins decades before diagnosis. Using advanced testing and personalized risk stratification, we identify your specific vulnerabilities and build a targeted plan to reduce your risk — starting now.
-

Mind Over Menopause™
Hot flashes, brain fog, mood changes, and poor sleep are neurologic symptoms — not just inconveniences. We treat them that way, while building a foundation for long-term brain health.
-

Neurologic Consultation
Whether you're seeking a diagnosis, a second opinion, or a more thoughtful approach to your care, we offer comprehensive neurologic evaluation with the time and attention your situation deserves.
Dr. Ashanthi Gajaweera is a board-certified neurologist with 25 years of clinical experience and one of a small number of neurologists in the country to hold the Menopause Society Certified Practitioner credential. Her clinical framework is built on the understanding that dementia is not one disease and brain health is downstream of whole body health. She helps patients understand their individual risk and take evidence-informed action on it — particularly those in their 40s to 60s with a family history or other risk factors who want to be proactive. This window, long before symptoms become evident, is when we need to get to work.
Why Choose Healthspan Neurology
-
You shouldn't have to wait months for answers.
-
Every evaluation is conducted by Dr. Gajaweera — not a nurse practitioner or physician assistant. You receive expert neurologic assessment from a physician with over 25 years of clinical experience.
-
Follow-ups are 60 to 90 minutes, depending on what you need. We don't watch the clock — we stay until the work is done.
-
Our services are direct-pay, with transparent pricing. Many patients use HSA or FSA funds, and we provide documentation to support out-of-network reimbursement from your insurer.
-
Most testing such as labs and imaging are covered by your insurance just as they would be with any insurance participating provider.
