Dementia Prevention Pathway

The lifetime risk of dementia is projected to affect 42% of us over the age of 55 by 2060 [1]. 

If you were born before 2005, these projections apply to you.

As alarming as these numbers sound we also know that “overall, around 45% of dementia cases are
potentially preventable” [2].

Let this be our call to action.

The Dementia Prevention Pathway is a package of three 90” visits to be scheduled within a six month timeframe.

    Step 1

    Schedule a complimentary 20” call to determine if we are the right fit.

    Fill out a comprehensive patient intake form on our patient portal, prior to your visit.

    Arrange to have any prior medical records sent to me for review before our first visit.

    Step 2

    First of three 75” visits

    Comprehensive preventative neurology consultation

    Review your goals as well as your history, medications, lifestyle and any prior testing.

    Recommend targeted testing for you to complete prior to your next visit.

    Testing will include cognitive testing, blood biomarkers (advanced lipids, inflammatory and metabolic profiles) and DEXA body composition.

    Further diagnostics may include brain imaging, genetic testing, wearing a continuous glucose monitor, advanced exercise physiology testing, sleep testing and cardiac testing.

    Step 3

    Second of three 75” visits

    Review and interpret your testing results to determine your dementia risk profile.

    Define targeted goals to optimize your cardiovascular, metabolic , body composition and fitness parameters.

    Stratify your risk mitigation strategy with workable tactics to gain agency over dementia prevention.

    Recommend personalized exercise, nutrition, medication/supplement and sleep optimization strategies.

    Recommend holistic practices when appropriate.

    Step 4

    Third 75” visit

    Review your Dementia Prevention strategy and how to build on the tactics reviewed at your prior visits.

    Review quantifiable risk measures and what data to follow over time.

    Consider subsequent visits (suggested bi/annually) to make appropriate shifts in strategy when needed.
